Frequently asked questions
What is ChordPro?
ChordPro is a plain-text format for chord charts where chords are written inline in square brackets, like [G], right before the syllable they fall on. It is easy to edit, transpose, and share, and most worship and guitar apps support it.
How do I transpose a chord chart?
Paste your chart and choose how many semitones to move it up or down — for example +2 to go from G to A. The converter rewrites every chord for you and keeps flat spellings such as Bb and Eb.
What is the Nashville Number System?
The Nashville Number System writes chords as scale degrees relative to the song's key instead of letter names. In the key of G, G is 1, C is 4, D is 5, and Em is 6m, so a band can change keys instantly.
Is this ChordPro converter really free?
Yes. It is completely free, needs no sign-up and no email, and nothing you paste is stored — the conversion happens in memory during the request and is never saved.
Can I convert chords-over-lyrics to ChordPro and back?
Yes. Paste a chords-over-lyrics chart and the tool detects it and produces ChordPro, or paste ChordPro to get an aligned chords-over-lyrics sheet. You can download the result as a .cho or .txt file.
